USDT on BEP20: what it is, how it differs from ERC20 and how to deposit on EonChess
BEP20 is the token standard of the BNB Smart Chain network, and USDT on BEP20 is one of the three options for depositing and withdrawing on EonChess. The most important thing about this network is that its addresses are identical to Ethereum's (ERC20): if you pick the wrong network when sending, nothing will warn you. This guide explains how to avoid that and the steps to deposit and withdraw.

What USDT on BEP20 is
USDT is a stablecoin worth about one dollar. BNB Smart Chain, formerly Binance Smart Chain, uses BEP20 as its token standard, which is why exchanges and wallets list the option as “BEP20”, “BSC” or “BNB Smart Chain”. EonChess accepts this network alongside Solana and TON; the overview is in chess with crypto.
The costliest mistake: BEP20 and ERC20 share an address format
BNB Smart Chain and Ethereum addresses have the same format: they start with 0x and are 42 characters long. Neither your wallet nor you can tell at a glance which network an address belongs to: what decides where the money goes is the network you choose when sending.
- Choose “BNB Smart Chain (BEP20)” or “BSC”, not “Ethereum (ERC20)”.
- Tron (TRC20) addresses start with T and cannot be confused with these, but EonChess does not accept them either.
- If you send on the wrong network, the funds may be lost or need a manual recovery that is not guaranteed.
How to deposit from an exchange
These are the usual steps:
- On the exchange, choose to withdraw USDT and select the BNB Smart Chain (BEP20) network.
- Paste your EonChess deposit address, which starts with 0x.
- Enter an amount of at least 5 USDT: below that, the deposit is not credited automatically.
- Confirm. The balance appears when the network confirms the transaction, usually within a few minutes.
If you send from your own wallet
In your own wallet, such as Trust Wallet or MetaMask, there are three details specific to this network:
- You need a little BNB, the coin used to pay the fee on BNB Smart Chain.
- Check that your USDT is on BNB Smart Chain and not on Ethereum: the same wallet can show balances on several networks.
- If the network does not appear, add it from the wallet's settings following its official instructions.
How to withdraw to a BEP20 address
You choose the BNB Smart Chain (BEP20) network, enter an address from that network and confirm with the 6-digit code or your PIN. Before you confirm, the form shows the minimum, the network fee and the exact amount you will receive. The full steps are in how to withdraw USDT.
Fees and what to do if you make a mistake
The network fee is usually a few cents and EonChess charges nothing to withdraw. To compare it with the other networks, read USDT on BEP20, Solana or TON.
If you sent less than 5 USDT or on the wrong network, write to support with the transaction hash.
Blockchain transactions are irreversible. Send only USDT, on the right network and to the exact address: if you get it wrong, the funds may be lost.
