Fair play policy
The integrity of competition is a core principle of EonChess: every game must be decided solely by the skill of the two players taking part. This policy defines prohibited conduct, detection methods, the review procedure and the consequences of non-compliance.
Last updated: October 14, 2026
Scope
This policy applies to all games played on the Platform, with particular rigour in Stake games, and forms an integral part of the Terms of Service.
Prohibited conduct
- Using chess engines, analysis software, browser extensions or any other tool that suggests moves during the game.
- Consulting opening databases, endgame tablebases, books or other people while the game is in progress.
- Allowing another person to play on one's account or playing on someone else's account.
- Creating or using multiple accounts, whether to evade sanctions, obtain referral earnings or play against oneself.
- Arranging results with the opponent, deliberately losing or transferring funds through games.
- Manipulating one's own rating, for example by losing games on purpose in order to face weaker opponents.
- Exploiting technical errors of the Platform or interfering with the opponent's connection.
Detection methods
- All Stake games are analysed with the Stockfish engine. Move accuracy, the time spent on each move and its consistency with the player's usual level are examined.
- Rating history, the record of results between the same accounts and technical indications of links between accounts are also reviewed.
- Disputes opened at the end of games are incorporated into the analysis.
Review procedure
- Automated analyses only flag suspicious cases. Each case is reviewed by the Platform's team before any sanction is adopted.
- During the review, the Platform may freeze the withdrawals of the accounts involved as a precaution. The Balance remains intact while the case is resolved.
- The decision is communicated to the User by notification.
Sanctions
- When a breach is confirmed, the account is permanently blocked and loses access to all features of the service.
- Amounts won in the affected games are returned to the affected opponents, and improperly obtained referral earnings are cancelled.
- The Platform may also block any other accounts linked to the offender.
Player disputes
Disputes over the result of a Stake game are governed by clause 11 of the Terms of service: they are opened from the game itself and, if upheld, the game is annulled and the amounts are returned in full to both players.
Reconsideration
A sanctioned User may request reconsideration of the decision via the support email address, providing any explanations and evidence they consider appropriate. The request is examined and its outcome communicated to the User.
Transparency
The Fair Play page publishes every month the number of accounts blocked and the amount returned to affected players.
