Chess play to earn with crypto: what it is and how it differs from playing for USDT

Play to earn in chess promises crypto for playing, usually with a token of the game's own and sometimes with items or NFTs, and what you receive depends on the price of that token. Playing for USDT is different: two people put up the same amount in a stable currency and the better player wins. This guide explains both models, their risks and how the second one works on EonChess.

What play to earn means

These are games that hand out rewards in crypto. In many cases you have to buy a token or an item to start, and the rewards come in the game's own token, which can rise or fall quickly in price and sometimes has little demand.

The main risks

Before joining one, keep in mind:

  • The token's price changes: what you earn today may be worth less tomorrow.
  • An initial investment may be needed to start.
  • Rewards may depend on new players joining.
  • If the project is abandoned, the token can lose almost all of its value.

Playing for USDT: a different model

EonChess has no token of its own and no NFTs. You play 1v1 chess against another person: both put in the same amount of USDT, starting from 1 USDT, and the winner takes the total minus a 10% fee. Because USDT holds a value close to the dollar, what you win does not change in price while you wait to withdraw it.

It is not a way to “earn” without risk: you lose the stake of every game you do not win. The difference is that the result depends on your level of play, not on the price of a token.

What about Bitcoin or other crypto?

EonChess works only with USDT, on BNB Smart Chain, Solana and TON, with a minimum deposit of 5 USDT and no EonChess fee to withdraw. A stable currency was chosen so that playing for a specific amount does not depend on the ups and downs of other cryptocurrencies. The steps are in chess with crypto.

How to spot an unreliable project

Be wary if you find any of these signs:

  • It promises fixed or guaranteed income.
  • Its main appeal is that you invite more people.
  • It does not explain who is behind it or how rewards are paid.
  • It asks for extra money so you can withdraw.

How to start without risk

Try chess for free against the computer first and read games that pay USDT to see the kinds of games that exist. If you want to play for a stake, read chess for USDT prizes first.

Playing for money involves risk and no winnings are guaranteed. For adults aged 18 and over only; games with a stake may be restricted in some countries.
